Dan Tomlin Jr
Dan Jr. grew up in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Hillcrest High School. He received a BBA degree from T C U and an M B A from S M U in North Dallas. He and his wife Judy have three grown children.
Mr. Tomlin began his career in the real estate investment field in 1970 when he co-founded Tomlin Investments / Land Advisors, LTD. with his father, Dan Tomlin Senior. The current investment portfolio is valued at over $350MM.
In Fall 1988, Dan was appointed to the board of the Real Estate center at the Wharton School of Business for six years. In March of 1988 he was appointed honorary consul of the Federal Republic of Germany and was honored as dean of the Dallas / Fort Worth consular corps from 1992 until 1994. In 2002 he received the Order of Merit awarded by the president of the Federal Republic of Germany.
Dan Tomlin Jr was featured in the May/June 2006 issue Texas Driver Magazine. This extensive article and covered his lifelong passion for cars, and also his success in the real estate business with Tomlin Investments. The interview underscores his life balance of business success and passion for auto racing, as well as his extensive collection of custom cars and motorcycles. As he told interviewer Paula Felps, this is the best of both worlds for me.î

Tomlin does not consider his garage to be a car museum, so he drives each one at least once a week. ìI know guys who have had Ferraris for three years and have less than 1,000 miles on them, and they look at me like I'm crazy,î he says. ìBut I love these cars. I love to drive them. Even just driving from here to home. These are great cars. They werenít made to sit in the garage.î
But as the article notes, most of his attention is focused on the four Formula Mazda cars used in the Star Mazda series.

Tomlin's number is 58, which was his age when he started the Star Mazda series. In the first race this year at Sebring International Raceway, Tomlin took the Masters Division.
The basic specs for Formula Mazda cars have a dry weight of 1140 pounds, racing 5-speed plus reverse transaxle, Weber 48 DCOE carburetor, 95 in. wheel base, 59 in. front track, 58 in rear track, brakes are four -wheel discs and calipers, front wheels 8x13 BBS, rear wheels 10x13 BBS, adjustable shocks, sway bars, brake bias and wing angles.
